The problem

No platform existed in Bangladesh for internet-native humour and cultural commentary aimed at young, English-speaking urban audiences.

What I did

Founded Rantages at fourteen. Built a proprietary CMS from scratch with no prior technical training. Grew the page, then pivoted to a crowdsourced model in 2018, then monetised the UGC model in 2022 — without external funding at any stage.

Outcome

310,000+ followers, a 15-person in-house creator team, and a 50,000-member creator community producing 60–200 posts a day. Bangladesh's first online meme community — still running seventeen years later.

Rantages started as a Facebook page in 2009 when I was fourteen. Over the years it became harder to categorise: part media company, part creator community, part proof of concept for what internet-native Bangladeshi publishing could look like.

The work ran in phases. The early years were about building the thing — writing, designing, and coding a CMS without anyone to ask for help. 2018 was a pivot to audience-generated content, scaling output through an in-house creator network and a 50,000-member creator group. 2022 was the monetisation turn: revenue generated entirely from the UGC model.

Building it without a budget, a team, or a model to copy taught me most of what I know about editorial operations, new media audience development, and what makes people come back.
